Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms are some of the most important things we forget about in our household. The Family Action Plan will help families be prepared and stay safe when an alarm goes off. To aid in your curriculum, the NFPA developed sample and mini-lessons.

It is important to have a plan whenever an alarm sounds. Using the Home Fire Escape Plan will help students learn what to do in an emergency, and save lives whenever an alarm sounds.

Annually, Fire Prevention Week is held the week of October 8. That's the day the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 began.

At the end of the week, present your students and children with a Sparky's Hero Club Certificate (pdf)!
