1st Hr. - $1.50 ( $1.50 for 1 hour total)
2nd Hr. - $1.50 ($3 for 2 hours total)
3rd Hr. - $3.00 ($6 for 3 hours total)
4th Hr. - $3.50 (Max. Stay 4 Hrs. for a total of $9.50)

Using United States coins only; slowly insert each coin individually making sure time is added on the display with each coin.  If the coin slot is jammed or time is not being added with each coin, please contact the Parking office at 406-855-7561 and move to another parking meter.

Parking Tokens are available at some downtown businesses.  Questions regarding Parking Tokens can be addressed with Downtown Business, Inc at 406-294-5060.

Certain downtown meters accept credit card payments as well.  Instructions are below.

PAYBYPHONE HOW-TO:

          Download the app through your phone's app store.
Register yourself by creating a login.  Add your phone number, email, create a password, and input your vehicle information.  You want to be sure you add all the vehicles you will use downtown and update them as necessary.  If you are using someone else's car, you are paying for someone else, or are renting a car, be sure to add those as well.  Use the exact plate number even if it is a temp plate.  Failure to use the correct license plate number (example don't use -  RENTAL, NOPLATES, FORGOT, DONTKNOW, etc) may result in a ticket.  Add your payment information as well at this time.

Make sure the information is correct along with the vehicle information and choose your length of stay.  METERS HAVE A LIMIT OF FOUR (4) HOURS; however, the app will only allow you to select three (3) at first.  Select "NEXT".

Review your PayByPhone parking information you just entered; once again making sure you have selected the correct vehicle / plate information.  Turn on SMS reminders and SMS confirmations if desired.  These are helpful as they remind you when your time is almost up to avoid a ticket and gives you a confirmation of your payment.  You can add more time remotely once the three (3) hours are up, but only up to one (1) more hour.  

Choose or add your payment method and select PAY & PARK at the bottom.

You will notice the display on the meter will not change.  THIS IS NORMAL.  When our officers observe an expired meter they investigate the backside of PayByPhone and check if the vehicle's license plate (parked at that meter) is in the system as a paying customer.  If the license plate is not in the system or is showing the time as expired, a ticket is issued.  Meters must be paid at all times while parked at a meter to avoid being cited.  Please see the Parking Ticket Information page for more details on parking citations.

There are meters in the downtown area with a credit card payment option (see image).  Insert your VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER (mag stripe up and to the left).  When prompt appears on screen, remove card.  These are not chip readers.  AMERICAN EXPRESS IS NOT ACCEPTED.

Use the UP and DOWN arrows to choose the desired amount of paid parking time.  Choose OK to accept or C to start over.  Parking meters have a daily limit of four (4) hours. 

The screen will start counting down the time once the OK button is selected.
