Billings Metro VISTA Project

In order to maintain momentum for poverty-impact and prior homeless initiatives sponsored by the City of Billings - Community Development Division, staff created an AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) program known as the Billings Metro VISTA Project in 2009; sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
VISTA members work to create or expand community-based programs, services, and systems that prevent and intervene in homelessness through capacity-building activities in the following priority areas:
  • Education: School readiness, K-12 success, and college access.
  • Economic Opportunity: Financial literacy, housing, and efforts to enhance vocational training and employment.
  • Healthy Futures: Food security, community gardens, food banks, and access to health care.
