The Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board

Launches Downtown Billings’ Historic Interactive Map in  Celebration of Preservation Month

The Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board (YHPB), a leading advocate for historic preservation, is thrilled to announce the official launch of the Billings’ Historic Interactive Map in celebration of Preservation Month.

Preservation Month, observed annually in May, provides an opportunity to celebrate the diverse and rich history of our communities. In line with this spirit, the YHPB has developed the Downtown Billings’ Historic Interactive Map to offer an engaging and informative platform for residents and visitors alike to explore the city's remarkable heritage.

The interactive map, accessible at https://www.ywhc.org/exhibit/billings-historic-landmarks/ , serves as a comprehensive guide to downtown Billings’ historic landmarks, providing users with an immersive experience to discover the stories behind these significant sites. From iconic architectural gems to hidden historical treasures, the map showcases the vibrant tapestry of Billings’ past, allowing users to delve into its fascinating narrative with just a click.

The YHPB extends its sincere gratitude to the Western Heritage Center and the Montana State Historic Preservation Office who contributed to the creation of this invaluable resource. Collaborative efforts have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, and the YHPB looks forward to continued collaboration in preserving and promoting Billings’ rich heritage.

As part of the launch, the YHPB encourages the community to explore the map and share their discoveries on social media platforms. Whether it's a favorite landmark, a hidden gem, or a personal anecdote, users are invited to join the conversation by using the hashtag #BillingsHistoricMap.
