Mobilize the MAGIC City Events
The City of Billings was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to contract with an Artist-In-Residence and develop a formal process to involve art and artists in everyday civic life. Nationwide, artists are contributing to community planning and design to improve economic development, road safety, health outcomes, and more. This project has been named Mobilize the MAGIC (Making Art Grounded in Community) City. Project deliverables will include at least two creative placemaking hubs (think public art informed by community engagement!), a Placemaking Playbook which will document effective processes used, and a Public Arts Committee Feasibility Study.
The Mobilize the MAGIC City project is entering the public engagement phase which means we want to hear from YOU! There are a series of fun events coming up where you can meet Artist-In-Residence Terri Porta and share your thoughts about the future of public art in Billings with her.
Walk and Talk with the Artist-In-Residence Series
Join Artist-In-Residence Terri Porta for a fun stroll at one (or join all!) of three parks to share your input on public art, what type of art you would like to see, and what you want to celebrate about your neighborhood.

Bike with the Artist-In-Residence
Join Artist-in-Residence Terri Porta for an easy bike ride to check out possible locations for creative placemaking hubs!
We will start at Rose Park and bike to North Park along Billings' first neighborhood bikeway, a route along local streets where bicycle travel is prioritized. A bicycle and helmet are required. You can either decide to go your own way once we reach North Park or ride back to Rose Park with the group.
